Ludwig Declares Victory in CU Regent Race

Twenty days after Election Day, Democratic candidate Steve Ludwig was informed that he won his race for University of Colorado Board of Regents after an excrutiatingly long process of counting absentee and provisional ballots.

By just over 5,800 votes, Ludwig defeated Republican Brian Davidson who was criticized for his response on a Pikes Peak Firearm Coaltion survey when he stated “A person with a permit should be allowed to carry their [sic] weapon essentially without regard to place or situation.” Ludwig seized on the comment that Davidson was advocating for concealed weapons on campus which Davidson denied. For the first time since 1976, a Democrat has been elected to the University of Colorado Board of Regents and it is because of you.

According to our tallies from the official results throughout Colorado, we won by slightly over 5,800 votes.

I am deeply grateful to the encouragement and support I have received throughout Colorado.  From the Four Corners, the Eastern Plains, the mountain communities, Western Slope, and the Front Range, we were moved by the people we met and the hard work that the candidates, Democratic Party officers, volunteers, and supporters put into all the campaigns.
