Tancredo: Please Don’t Smoke ‘Em, If You Got ‘Em

The Hill reported today that a complaint was lodged against Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo for smoking a cigar in his office because “the smoke was coming through the walls,” according to Capitol Police. The stogie-chomping Tancredo told The Hill that he would not stop smoking in his office:

“Heck, no!” he said. “If he [Ellison] would have [had] the courtesy to say something I’m sure I would have been more accommodating to his wishes.”

The complainant was the press secretary for freshman Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison whose suite of offices adjoin Tancredo’s in the Longworth House Office Building.

While the two congressmen may not agree on a “smoke ’em, if you got ’em” philosophy, Tancredo was one of few GOP elected officials who supported Ellison’s request to use a Quran for his swearing in ceremony last month as the first Muslim-American elected to Congress.
