Brett Schager is sunny and funny and way past being bitter. “I can’t be that upset when we live in a stupid, stupid city, but it does make me kind of sad,” he says.
Not too sad, though, for Schager, who grew up in Colorado Springs and is now a freshman at the University of Colorado at Boulder, to remind his old high school principal that he still carries with him the vivid lesson about the menace of sidewalk chalk –
