Garcia to tour state veteran, homeless facilities

Joe Garcia, Colorado’s charismatic Democratic lieutenant governor, a man who can pull off black cowboy boots and matching scarf, announced a coming tour of veteran and homeless services centers in “several Western Slope and Eastern Plains communities” that happen to be located predominantly in Republican Congressman Scott Tipton’s expansive and swing-ish district.

Garcia’s name has been floated for the past year as a lead likely candidate to take on Tipton.

Two weeks ago, the Colorado Independent asked Garcia point-blank: “Will you run for the CD 3 seat in 2014?”

His eyes widened. His eyebrows shot up. He laughed. “Who are you, again?” he asked.

And then: “Well it’s a big, diverse district and it’ll certainly be a challenge for whoever runs to represent it.”

It’s an answer that wasn’t answer. In other words, he’s ready to run for Congress.
