In the least surprising story of the day, the ad wars continue in the Udall-Gardner race for the U.S. Senate. The only surprise is that the latest ad has nothing to do with Obamacare.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is running a 30-second ad accusing Udall of making votes that have raised energy costs. The ad is low on specifics — and doesn’t mention the Keystone XL pipeline at all — but is an apparently complement to the supposed new-kind-of-Republican Cory Gardner ad, in which he says, “What’s a Republican like me doing at a wind farm?”
In this tagline for the Chamber ad, it wants voters to contrast Gardner with, presumably, an old kind of Democrat: “Mark Udall, more power for them, higher costs for you.” One significant problem: The ad says Udall is responsible for higher costs, but it somehow fails to show any votes that would back up the claim.
