Lamborn won’t debate the upstart
Rep. Doug Lamborn’s spokesman told The Gazette that the Republican congressman wouldn’t debate Democrat Irv Halter, the retired Air Force major general who’s trying to give him a run for his money.
The 5th Congressional District, based in Colorado Springs, has long been a Republican stronghold, and Halter has tried to make inroads by repeatedly attacking Lamborn’s attendance record and lack of accessibility.
“The Congressman will not be providing Mr. Halter with a platform to spread his deceptive rhetoric and uncivil tone,” campaign spokesman Jarred Rego emailed The Gazette.
