Jeffco library branch bustling with voters

The Standley Lake branch of the Jefferson County Public Library, near 84th and Kipling, has been busy all day, a volunteer said. The joint is jumping; six of the eight voting booths were in use when I looked in.

A steady stream of people used the ballot drop-off box out front, a dozen in the few minutes I watched. One young woman filled out her ballot on the steering wheel of her SUV, parked in the circular drive a few feet away.

There also was a guy who came in with his ballot and the blue book and was working over it at a table at the library.

Carolyn Carver, public information officer for the Jefferson County clerk’s office, said about 205,000 ballots had been received by late morning. A software glitch between the county and the secretary of state’s office had been resolved. They were gearing up for tonight’s count and will release the first round of results shortly after 7 p.m., she said.

Problems? “Not yet, knock on wood,” she said.
