New report: American Psychological Association bolstered Bush-era torture

The American Psychological Association secretly worked behind the scenes with the Bush Administration to craft moral and legal justifications for torture, states a renegade group of health professionals in a new report. The APA denies it, writes James Risen in The New York Times.

Risen sent 638 emails to a team of psychologists, including Harvard and New York University professors. The team read the emails and chose six to focus on.

“This report analyzes emails from the accounts of deceased RAND Corporation researcher and apparent CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) contractor Mr. Scott Gerwehr,” reads the report.

The team came to the following conclusions.
