The Chattanooga shooter: He suffered from depression, abused drugs and alcohol, was facing bankruptcy, and authorities found on his computer material connected to Anwar al-Awlaki, the radical American-born cleric who was killed in Yemen by a U.S. drone strike. Via The New York Times.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll has Donald Trump at nearly double his nearest competitor in the GOP primary race. Trump is at 24 percent, Scott Walker at 13, Jeb Bush at 12. Trump’s numbers did fall in the one day of polling after the McCain insult.
The Des Moines Register editorial board calls Trump a “feckless blowhard” and says he should drop out of the race.
New details emerge in the death of Sandra Bland in a Texas jail. The dash-cam video of the arrest is expected to be released soon. A family member told NBC News that the dispute that led to her arrest began when the officer, who had pulled Bland over for not signaling a lane change, demanded that Bland put out her cigarette.
