Watch: “What’s the Plan?” featuring Colorado Water Conservation Board director James Eklund

Under Gov. John Hickenlooper’s executive order, Colorado Water Conservation Board director James Eklund and his staff are tasked with putting together Colorado’s first-ever statewide water plan by the end of this year. In an interview with The Colorado Independent, Eklund discusses the politics and challenges of the plan, including criticisms that the current draft isn’t yet specific enough.

    Governor Hickenlooper is no friend of the “grass roots” of anyone…He is a Friend of Big Oil and Gas, who needs more water to frack with…This one “root” is a holder of Senior Water Rights, and I will defend my position with respect to Water Grabbers…Yep, Frack and poison our water…then come after mine, that I have spent my entire lifetime protecting from all kinds of attacks…From Drilling and Mining to the Rainbow Gathering…From Fire and Pestilence to thieves and interlopers…
