Sanders supporters jab Michael Bennet: ‘Change your vote’

Bernie Sanders supporters targeted U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet during today’s Colorado Democratic Party state convention.

As a Democratic superdelegate supporting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Bennet has made enemies with the rowdy Sanders supporters who argue he should shift his vote to conform to the majority of Colorado Democrats who felt the Bern on Super Tuesday.

Shouts of “Change your vote!” echoed throughout the main hall of the Budweiser Event Center as Bennet stumbled through his acceptance speech trying to tell fellow Dems he would seek a second term. But stomping feet, jeering and boos drowned him out.

Several times, he paused, pleading with Sanders’ furious delegates to allow him to finish.

They continued to slam him.

Once Democratic Party Chair Rick Palacio closed the nomination and asked delegates to pick Bennet after no other candidates surfaced, the “ayes” were muted by a chorus of “boos” from Sanders’ base.

    (Hillary lobbied up votes on Capitol Hill for the “Crime Control & Law Enforcement Act of ’94”, amping up Reagan’s ‘War On Drugs’; Black/Hispanic neighborhoods were turned into police states by random stops/searches, sparking the mass incarceration that continues today – Hillary is still against lighter sentencing for non-violent cannabis ‘offenders’, and accepted $ from lobbyists for two major private prison companies)

    (Supports Genetically Modified Organism companies like Monsanto pushing out family farmers, with Big Corporations taking control of our food supply; non-labeling of GMOs in stores)

    (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether is a chemical used by Big Oil & Gas; and is toxic to the environment & local water supplies and causes cancer)

  8. The Democratic Party’s ‘super-delegate’ system is a sad joke on democracy. It reminds me very much of the ‘electoral college’. It is only in such systems that once can win the popular vote and lose an election as D-Gore did in the 2000 presidential election (and sadly as Bernie may do in the 2016 D primary). #onemanonevote

  9. Senator Bennett, you must stand strong. Do your job as a leader in the Democratic Party. Vote for HRC! A vote for BS is a vote for the Republican nominee in the General Election. BS is a self proclaimed socialist and will NEVER win in November.

  10. While I applaud the Bernie caucus participants for the win and their fervor, caucuses are not easily accessed- I see them as less than democratic. Some who wanted to participate could not get off work, or find childcare, or deal with the environments if disabled. There are 934,818 registered Democrats, yet only 123,508 participated- that’s 13%. Bernie’s share is less than 8%, at 72,846. And that also leaves out 1,016,175 Independents.

    So- I applaud Bernie’s win of pledged delegates, but leave the superdelegates alone as they represent the rest of us. (I am disabled.)
