Senate Committee to Consider Musgrave’s Anti-Trigger Lock Bill

We’ll be watching Sen. Herbert Kohl (R-WI) tomorrow morning, when his Senate Appropriations subcommittee. will consider the spending bill that contains Rep. Marilyn Musgrave’s (R-4) amendment to defund a requirement that all gun dealers provide trigger locks when selling handguns.Kohl is the reason the trigger lock requirement is law. In July 2005, he introduced an amendment to a bill that provided immunity for gun manufacturers from civil lawsuits (That’s another story, more to come). It passed overwhelmingly, by a vote of 70-30, including a “yea” vote from Sen. Ken Salazar (D). Sen. Wayne Allard voted against it.
