U.S. Rep. Joe “you lie” Wilson, South Carolina’s proud-loud Republican, this week voted nay on the National Defense and Authorization Act of 2009, joining other members of the GOP caucus, including Colorado U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, in protesting the inclusion of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act. Apparently Wilson made up for the vote in true South Carolina fashion by attending a fundraiser golf tournament organized by a cigar manufacturer. The goal was to raise money to send 15,000 cigars to the troops overseas.
“Really, cigars are good for your health!”
“You lie!”
