Schmoozing at the DNC

For those who will undoubtedly be weary of the high-paced, highly politicized Democratic National Convention in August, there is a concurrent event for you. Well, that is, if you’re invited–and willing to shell out $10,000 for the private affair.

As the New York Times reports, Nancy Jacobson, a Democratic fund-raiser and wife of Democratic pollster Mark Penn, is hosting a four-day schmooze event for governors, senators, policy makers, and candidates at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Denver during the DNC.

“The Convention is a political trade show that only happens once every four years and the whole world will be watching," Jacobson wrote in an email to invited guests acquired by the New York Times. "We hope that you will be a part of our Democratic Convention Summit program that will offer substantive policy and political discourse, as well as a unique opportunity to personally connect with national Democratic leaders.”

Kevin Spacey and Laura Dern, star of the HBO film "Recount," will also show up at the event.
