‘New Color of Money’: summit on minority buying power

Entrepreneurs and business owners are learning how to capitalize on the growing purchasing power of communities of color today at “The Summit: The New Color of Money.”

The daylong event at the Colorado Convention Center will include leadership and business-building seminars intended to help businesses harness multicultural communities’ $10 trillion in buying power, according to Jeff Martinez, spokesman for Brothers Redevelopment.

Biotech entrepreneur Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman astronaut to go into orbit in 1992, will deliver the keynote address.

The summit was organized with assistance from the Mountain Region Black Economic Summit, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Denver Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

More than 500 people are expected to attend, Martinez said.
