GLBT group won’t protest at convention

A least one group of Colorado activists isn’t planning any demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention because it wants to avoid the possibility of being associated with any violence.

Chris Hubble, the state coordinator for Soulforce, said the GLBT advocacy group has decided not to demonstrate at this year’s convention, scheduled for Aug. 25-28 in Denver, to avoid being “tainted” if other protesters turn violent.

“Soulforce has a really good brand name,” Hubble said.

Being associated with riots would contradict the group’s mission of peacefully resisting injustices, he added.
