Happy Homeownership Month? Not so much
President George W. Bush has proclaimed June to be National Homeownership Month.
“I call upon the people of the United States to join me in recognizing the importance of homeownership and building a more prosperous future for themselves and their communities,” Bush said in a statement.
Who may decline the invitation? Thousands of Colorado families who have seen homeownership wreak havoc on their financial futures.
Between 2003 and 2007 foreclosure fillings across the state increased 190 percent, hitting a record high of 39,915 last year, according to the state.
