Denver Post gives head bob to Richardson as Obama VP

In yet another fact-challenged endorsement, Sunday’s Denver Post editorial touts New Mexico governor Bill Richardson as an ideal pick for the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket.

Richardson has one of the most varied resumés of any of the presidential primary contenders, Republican or Democratic, in recent memory. On paper, Richardson does look like a good choice — if one ignores the abundant campaign miscues, poor fund raising and lackluster stump speeches on the trail. You know, all those things the veep is supposed to do to support the ticket.

However for the Post to refer to Richardson as "a son of the West" could start a barroom brawl in these parts. As our colleague Matthew Reichbach of the New Mexico Independent correctly points out:

While Richardson was born in Pasadena, Calif., he was raised in Mexico City until the age of 13, when he was sent to a New England prep school. Richardson did not live in New Mexico or anywhere in the West until 1978, when he was already in his 30s.
