Republicans for Choice says little about McInnis role with the group
A month and a half after the Colorado Independent began phoning and emailing Republicans for Choice in an effort to determine exactly what ties GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis had with the organization, the group finally responded. Sort of.
We received this unsigned email from firstname.lastname@example.org today:
“BTW Scott McInnis was never Chairman of our group. I have no idea where that idea came from. He was a member of our Advisory Board as many elected officials have been. What did that involve? Giving us advice IF and only if there were issues or candidates in their state or on a Federal Bill for which questions may have arisen. That is all.”
All capitalization and punctuation is verbatim. The Colorado Independent never reported that McInnis was chairman of the board. The Denver Post did report that as fact. Republicans For Choice thus far has not returned an email sent today in response to this one.
According to FEC records, McInnis served on the board of Republicans for Choice from 1996 or sooner until 2005 or later, even though he was no longer pro-choice by the late 1990s.
