Boulder area burning again

Boulder’s on fire again. Well not quite, but very close. Some Boulder neighborhoods have already been issued evacuation orders as the Dome Fire between Boulder and Sunshine Canyon has spread to more than 125 acres.

The fire will no doubt renew discussion of the pine beetle epidemic and what to do about it.

From the Boulder Daily Camera:

The Dome Fire is now burning 134 acres of land between Boulder and Sunshine canyons, officials said at 1:30 p.m.

Efforts to fight the fire, which was first reported at 8:10 a.m., may cause large portions of the city of Boulder and western Boulder County to lose power on a rolling basis as firefighters initiate a “back burn.”

Power may go out from 28th Street west all the way to Nederland and from Baseline Road north to Iris Avenue through mid-afternoon, according to officials.

Evacuation orders due to the Dome Fire have also been extended to include some residents and businesses within the city of Boulder.
