With only about 5 percent of the ballots counted, 9News tonight was reporting early leads for Democrats John Hickenlooper and U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.
With under 100,000 votes counted — most likely from metro area precincts expected to go to Democrats — Bennet was up 54 percent (52,825 votes) to 41 percent for Republican Ken Buck (40,287). Hickenlooper was up 57 percent (55,744) to 31 percent (30,480) over American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo. Republican Dan Maes was trailing with only 9 percent (9,373).
