Palin schools Couric: ‘I have a degree in communications’

For those who missed it yesterday: She wants to “help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism” because the “cornerstone of our democracy [is] that expectation that the public has for truth to be reported.”

If you’re familiar with the English language and you had a hard time reading any of that and if you disagree with any of the premises of those quotes, you should know that Sarah Palin has a degree in communications!

Taking potshots on the crude journalism profession, everyone’s whipping boy, is beneath Palin. She shoud stick to things she garners praise for, like analyzing the Federal Reserve’s use of quantitative easing.

… maybe it’s time for Chairman Bernanke to cease and desist. We don’t want temporary, artificial economic growth bought at the expense of permanently higher inflation which will erode the value of our incomes and our savings. We want a stable dollar combined with real economic reform. It’s the only way we can get our economy back on the right track.

That sounds like Palin, doesn’t it?

As Frank Rich wrote this week, the Wall Street Journal editorial page went beyond the call of duty in writing the following lines without even a wink.

“Mrs. Palin is way ahead of her potential presidential competitors on this policy point… she shows a talent for putting a technical subject in language that average Americans can understand.”

Say communications degree. Don’t say ghostwriter.
