Obama and McCain on the issues

With Barack Obama and John McCain less than three weeks away from their first presidential debate, Stateline.org, a nonpartisan online news site, has come up with a virtual tete-a-tete between the two candidates.

The Stateline.org report details the candidates’ stances on issues affecting local and state governments, including transportation, affirmative action, and immigration.

As the oil and gas drilling debate rages in Colorado, both candidates, the report says, have promised to invest in alternative energy technology. Obama plans to use federal dollars to spur clean energy research and jobs, while McCain says he’ll give $300 million to the first company that can come up with a battery to completely power a car.
