GLBT rights rally planned for Denver’s Civic Center Park

Members of the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community and their straight supporters plan to gather in Denver’s Civic Center Park Sunday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in a show of solidarity for gay rights.

The gathering is part of the second annual Seven Straight Nights for Equality Rights, a national project that encourages gay rights supporters to set out luminaria vigils during the week of Sept. 14 to show their support for GLBT rights.

According to a May 2008 Gallup poll on values and beliefs, Americans are evenly divided over the morality of homosexual relations, ranking “homosexual relations” as the most social and culturally divisive issue in the country.

The event will feature speakers, information booths and entertainment, and participants will be able to take home luminaria, according to organizers.
