Denver mayoral candidate Michael Hancock today issued a statement encouraging members of the Colorado House Judiciary Committee to approve the Colorado Civil Union Act and send it to the House floor for full consideration.
“This bill will extend fair and equitable support to all residents,” Hancock said in the prepared statement. “It’s a matter of providing every Coloradan the same rights to care for their loved ones, feel safe in their neighborhoods and enjoy critical legal protections. It defines government’s role to be one of contract enforcement and childcare oversight, and not the regulation of marriage.
“Our representatives need to know their constituents support this bill,” Hancock said, urging voters to call or write their legislators. “Public participation is essential to successfully and effectively delivering that message.”
