Grand Junction Senator Quits

Certainly one of many legislators who want to avoid the two year wait before they can lobby at the Capitol, State Senator Ron Teck from Mesa County announced he is resigning before his term ends to avoid ramifications from the voter-approved Amendment 41.Photobucket - Video and Image HostingSen. Teck, a term-limited Republican, said he wasn’t certain what he’s going to do in the future, but he wanted to keep his options open.

He will resign Dec. 15, which Teck hopes will occur before the law takes effect when the governor signs off on the certification of the election results.

Rep. Josh Penry, who was elected in November to replace Teck, will probably be appointed to the post.
