I Have No Exes In Texas, Dammit!

That’s it.

It’s all I can stands.

To this point I’ve not said an unkind word about Gov. Bill Ritter, but I can hold my tongue no longer (and besides, do you have any idea how hard it is to type while holding your tongue?)When Bill Ritter was a candidate for governor, he talked about his general pro-life views on abortion. Many Democrats were critical of him for this, but it wasn’t a make-or-break issue for me.

When he was in his first few weeks in office, he vetoed a labor union bill that he had previously pledged to support. Unlike some, I didn’t crucify him for the decision.

But I will be silent no longer after what Ritter did this morning.

Today, Gov. Ritter announced on KYGO 98.5 FM that he was declaring tomorrow, March 3, to be “George Strait Day” in Colorado.

After my initial reaction – Who the hell is George Strait? – I became greatly concerned. Apparently Strait is a country crooner who sings a lot of songs with the words “honky tonk” in the title. I’m not okay with that. I mean, I’m okay with singing songs with “honky tonk” in the title, but I’m not okay with country music.

I feel deceived. I would never have knowingly supported a candidate who listens to country.

Here’s the press release from the governor’s office:

Strait performs at Pepsi Center in Denver on Saturday evening, and the governor has long been a fan of the country music star.

The text of the proclamation reads as follows:

WHEREAS, George Strait was born in 1952 in Poteet, Texas, and played in his first band
