Tancredo wants the U.S. to arm 100 million Americans to fight ‘Islamists’

Tom Tancredo wants a third of America armed and organized in militias to fight Islamic terrorists.

Congress should consider buying firearms for low-income people so 100 million Americans could be part of state-based militias to fight “Islamists,” Colorado’s former 6th District Congressman Tom Tancredo wrote Dec. 4 in Breitbart.

“Terrorists and criminals already know how to obtain guns, so why not help the defenseless? If we can afford food stamps and housing subsidies, why not gun stamps to help urban citizens survive the next Islamist assault?”

Tancredo, who supports a second civil war if Barack Obama or any other president ever confiscated guns, has a long track record of objecting to government paying for food or health care for those need. But apparently gun welfare is A-OK with him.

Why?

“The FBI has said there are 900 investigations under way in all 50 states, and 48 Islamists ‘deserve’ round-the-clock surveillance. Most likely there are 9,000 Islamists who deserve that 24-hour surveillance and monitoring, but the FBI does not have the resources for that task.”

Tancredo’s fix is to create “a homeland reserve militia trained in self-defense – trained for defense of our communities, our neighborhoods, our schools, our sports events, our shopping malls — in short, the everyday defense of our way of life.”

His column was released the same day Christian college Liberty University’s president Jerry Falwell Jr., son of the notable right-wing evangelist, encouraged students to start packing guns around campus.

“Let’s teach them a lesson if they ever show up here,” Falwell said, according to The New York Daily News.

“I’ve always thought if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in.”

In a statement about Fallwell’s remarks, Abrahim Hooper of the Center for American Islamic Relations said, “It’s part of an overall toxic anti-Muslim atmosphere that we’re seeing, particularly in the past few weeks with Paris and San Bernardino.

“Anti-Muslim bigotry was still on the fringes after 9/11. But it’s moving toward the mainstream thanks to Donald Trump, Ben Carson and these type of comments.”

Monday, The New York Times reported Republican frontrunner Trump said the U.S. should close its borders to all Muslims.

  1. I always found it rather embarrassing that Tancredo was representing this state in Congress. The man is insane. has been insane, always will be insane. I know he has an (R) behind his name, but really, people, the man is a nut case. That SHOULD give you maybe just a MINUTE’S pause before you pull the lever for him.

So this plan has absolutely NO chance of going anywhere. These are exactly the WRONG people to arm. 100 million angry, hungry, unemployed people can be led to do some really nasty things to everyone else to get what they want. And let’s get real, these are the same people that the rich are arming themselves against in the first place. Somehow, I suspect that even the NRA would be against this, but then, I’m not a sociopath, so I could be wrong, there.

Fear drives you to do a lot of really stupid things. This would be an INCREDIBLY stupid thing to do. It doesn’t surprise me that it came from Tommy Tancredo, one of the looniest of our many home grown loons.

  2. Good old Tom makes me laugh. I guess he peed in the liberal pot again. I don’t want the dope smoking welfare addicts in Colorado armed. They may revolt and cause me to pay more taxes for their liberal policies. Jesus could you imagine the dipshits at CU actually being armed… Lol….
Keep the guns out of the hands of liberal’s and their slaves… That way WE gun owners don’t have to waste our ammo on protecting our land and all we have worked for.
