Democratic Campaign Funding Totals Reported

Federal campaign contribution reports are due today, but it’s a holiday in Washington, D.C.,so only the summary totals are available. Listing of who gave how much to whom should be available later in the week.

Some of these totals — primarily Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) and Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) were reported by the news media earlier this month when the campaigns released the information. The totals for John Edwards, Bill Richardson and Joe Biden hadn’t been released before.Clinton’s Federal Election Commission report, through March 31, 2007, says the senator has raised a league-leading total of $36.1 million, of which $10 million is “transfers from authorized committees” and $26 million is individual and political action committee contributions. The campaign has $31 million cash on hand and owes $1.6 million.

Barack Obama lists total receipts of $25.8 million through march 31, $25.7 million form individuals and $3,050 form non-party and other committees. The campaign spent $6.6 million, has $19.2 million cash on hand and owes only $191,000.

John Edwards reports total receipts of $14 million, all but about $200 from individual contributions. The campaign lists $10.7 million on hand, with no debt.

Bill Richardson has raised $6.2 million through March 31, with only about $60,000 from PACs and non-party contributions. The campaign lists $5.0 million on hand and only about $20,000 in debt.

Joe Biden raised $4 million, about half of which is “transfers from authorized committees.” Individuals gave him about $2.1 million. The campaign lists $2.8 million cash on hand and no debt.
