Thirty-two children and teens died from injuries related to guns in 2003 in Colorado, according to a new report hot off the presses from the Childrens Defense Fund (CDF) today.
Over three years, from 2001 to 2003, 138 kids in Colorado lost their lives due to gunshot injuries.
These 32 kids were among the 2,827 children and teens who died from gun related injuries in 2003-a number, CDF points out, that is higher than the total number of U.S. soldiers killed during three years in Iraq. The statistics on gun related deaths exclude deaths by police or corrections intervention.
