An irate reader recently wrote the Glenwood Springs Post Independent in frustration with the Garfield County commissioners’ lack of knowledge about the roadless issue. The commissioners claim they have been left out of the loop.
Last year, Governor Owens appointed a roadless task force, including two members from GarCo, and they already have been making recommendations about individual areas.
The reader noted that one commissioner said he was afraid that the Forest Service will close some roads based on this group’s counsel. She had to point out, “Roadless means that there are no roads there now.”
