The Denver Post is reporting today that Colorado Secretary of State Gigi Dennis, a Republican, will join Westminster based Tri-State Generation and Transmission in January as a senior governmental relations manager (aka lobbyist).
The company sells electricity to electric cooperatives which often lack their own power plants. Dennis was appointed by Governor Owens to fill a vacancy when Secretary of State Donetta Davidson resigned to fill an elections related position in the federal government. She had not sought to be elected and her tenure was tainted by allegations of partisan bias and lack of competence. Republican Mike Coffman ran for and won the Secretary of State’s race in this fall’s election.
