16 More Ways To Break The Law

Gov. Bill Ritter signed 16 bills into law yesterday, on top of 26 new laws enacted earlier this week.

The latest includes Senate Bill 34, by Sen. John Morse, which requires Colorado residents who want to carry concealed weapons to have a permit issued in Colorado, which requires firearms training and extensive criminal background checks  – as opposed to states like Florida, where the requirements may not be as stringent. The proposal was criticized by some Republicans as being anti Second Amendment, but, back in January, when the bill was being debated, Morse, a Democrat from Colorado Springs, called it “just common sense.”
