Today Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar introduced a bill to follow through with recommendations from the Iraq Study Group, a Congressional commission that was appointed to report and recommend action regarding the U.S. occupation in Iraq.
Salazar also has plans to talk about the bill along with the ongoing debate over comprehensive immigration reform tomorrow. From the release today:
Today, United States Senator Ken Salazar introduced his bipartisan bill, which is gaining momentum in the Senate, to implement the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group into law, giving America a new way forward in Iraq. Senator Salazar was joined, at a press conference Tuesday introducing the legislation, by Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Bob Bennett (R-UT), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Judd Gregg (R-NH), Robert Casey (D-PA), John Sununu (R-NH) and Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), in introducing the ‘Iraq Study Group (ISG) Recommendations Implementation Act of 2007.’
The Iraq Study Group released its final report in December of 2006, recommending a phased withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.
