The lead in a lead story in the Colorado Springs Gazette this weekend is pretty
“White men wield outsized influence in Colorado Springs.”
Based on a city-sponsored survey, the daily newspaper in Colorado’s second largest city notes that five of the nine members of the Colorado Springs City Council are white and male.
Reporter Perry Swanson, who is also white and male, notes that the influence of the white male is “more evident among the volunteer boards and commissions that advise council members” on everything from parks to urban planning and public art.
Among the statistics:
