Obama and McCain veep search committees connected?

In the world of politics, it’s all about who you know.

When likely Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama chose a vice presidential search committee he went to some big hitters among people he knows including Caroline Kennedy.

Obama’s veep search was facilitated by Jim Johnson, a long-time power player in D.C. Democratic politics and the leader of John Kerry’s 2004 veep search and the manager of the 1984 Walter Mondale campaign.

Johnson resigned from his post yesterday. Why?

But, Johnson has some secrets of his own according to a recent Wall Street Journal article.

The WSJ article says Johnson received “at least five real-estate loans totally $7 million” from the cash-strapped lending house Countrywide Financial as a friend of chief executive Angelo R. Mozilo.

You might be asking how interconnected Johnson and Mozilo really are.

Would it surprise you to know Johnson and Arthur B. Culvahouse Jr., the director of John McCains’s veep pick are connected through business associations as well?

Check it out.
