Red to Blue to the rescue?

Getting a little help is always nice.

The DCCC announced this morning that Betsy Markey, the 4th Congressional District Democratic candidate hoping to unseat Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, has been named to its Red to Blue Program.

The Red to Blue Program, created in 2004 and expanded in 2006, works to offer “top-tiered” Democratic campaigns with funding support.

To date, Markey has raised more money than any Democratic challenger to Musgrave and will likely be helped by progressive 527 groups attacking Musgrave with a blitz of TV and radio ads.

The announcement is notable. Red to Blue raised $7.5 million in 2004, which it doled out 27 campaigns across the country. In 2006, it raised nearly $22.6 million for 56 campaigns, giving an average of more than $400,000 per campaign.
