Colorado racing going to the dogs

Mile High Racing and Entertainment has announced that Saturday will be the last day of dog racing in Denver this year. This decision comes after a failure of kennel owners and track officials to come to an agreement that would last for the rest of the summer racing season.

Mile High Racing,  located at 6200 Dahlia St. in Commerce City, was the last park to offer live dog racing in the state.

By various estimates this decision will put between 100 and 200 greyhounds up for adoption.

The decision to close racing for the season will also force Mile High Racing to stop carrying simulcast dog races at its off-track betting locations throughout the state.
