Obama to accept nod at INVESCO Field

After days of denials amid rampant blogger speculation, the DNC committee issued a press release this morning that, yes, in fact, INVESCO Field at Mile High will play host to the final day of the Democratic National Convention where Sen. Barack Obama will accept the party’s nomination for president.

Breaking the mold of traditional political Conventions, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today announced that Senator Barack Obama will accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States at Denver’s INVESCO Field at Mile High. INVESCO Field can accommodate more than 75,000 people and will be the site of the 2008 Democratic Convention’s final day of programming on Thursday, August 28, 2008.

The cast of thousands quoted in the presser cited the "people-centered," "unprecedented," "historic," and "grassroots-igniting" celebration.

Community members are encouraged to apply for an as-yet-undefined "community credential" to attend the nomination speech to help fill the 75,000-seat downtown Denver stadium, better known until Aug. 28 as the home of the Denver Broncos.

No word on whether Obama will spike a ball in the end zone following the event.
