On the Democratic side, presidential hopeful Barack Obama is still touring Europe but his campaign announced New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will also head up to Denver on Friday, where he will also address the American GI Forum highlighting Obama’s commitment to the nation’s veterans. Richardson’s event is ticketed.

The appearances again signal the discovery of Colorado in 2008 by candidates running for the highest office in the land — who previously often treated the Centennial State as just more flyover country.

McCain, who visited Denver earlier this month for a town hall forum, will speak at 11:30 a.m. at the Denver Grand Hyatt Hotel to the American GI Forum of the United States National Convention. He will head to Aspen after.

The event is being billed by the McCain campaign as open to general public admission beginning at 10:30 a.m.
