Court slowing Wild Oats takeover

Wild Oats aficionados got a little taste of victory Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean their favorite defunct, Boulder-based organic grocer will be returning to the market anytime soon.

A federal Appeals Court ruled that a lower court shouldn’t have given such a hasty go-ahead last year to Whole Foods’ takeover of Wild Oats, according to the Denver Business Journal.

A Federal Trade Commission request for an injunction against the merger on antitrust grounds now returns to District Court. But Whole Foods said despite the decision, it will continue closing and revamping in its own image Wild Oats stores, according to the Business Journal.
