Ted Kennedy will address DNC tonight

As predicted, the AP just confirmed Sen. Ted Kennedy will speak at the DNC tonight. The Massachusetts senator, an early and galvanizing supporter of Barack Obama’s campaign, arrived in Denver Sunday night.

Kennedy, meanwhile, was expected to get the convention off to an electric start Monday night. He arrived in Denver on Sunday night and got a checkup at a local hospital. He planned to watch a video tribute to him and then address the convention, top party officials told Jay DeDapper of NBC affiliate WNBC of New York.

Stephanie Cutter, a Kennedy spokeswoman, said, “He’s truly humbled by the outpouring of support and wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.”

Tonight’s DNC program includes a Ken Burns-produced video about Kennedy, who first won election to the Senate in 1962 while his brother was president. Michelle Obama delivers the keynote address following Kennedy’s appearance.
