Ad hits McCain in Spanish for ‘turning his back’ on immigration reform

The Obama campaign will begin airing a Spanish-language ad Wednesday in Colorado slamming John McCain for “the same distortions and lies on the immigration issue,” according to The Washington Post. It’s part of a contest for the Hispanic vote carried out largely beneath the mainstream media’s radar with both campaigns waging attacks in Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Florida, the Post reports.

The 30-second TV ad “Otra Vez Con Lo Mismo,” which translates “There we go again,” comes out swinging against an earlier McCain ad that blames Barack Obama for killing immigration reform. “McCain is up to the same distortions and lies on the immigration issue. He wants to hide the fact that he’s the one who turned his back on us,” the Obama ad says in Spanish, according to the Post.

The ad includes a clip of McCain backtracking from his own immigration reform legislation and then charges, in Spanish, “”McCain caved to the anti-immigrant crowd and, with the Republicans, turned his back on our community. If John McCain is not willing to stand up against his own Republican Party, how will he stand up for our community in the White House?”
