Rocky recognizes Independent’s pre-election McInnis bombshell

Even as the mainstream media Saturday acknowledged the role of The Colorado Independent in introducing the topic of dramatic change to the state Republican Party prior to the Nov. 4 election, The Associated Press over the weekend delved into just what that change might look like.

Rocky Mountain News media columnist Jason Salzman Saturday recognized the role of political Web sites and bloggers in helping break important stories and shape the debate leading into last week’s election, specifically singling out an Oct. 28 Colorado Independent interview with former Republican Congressman Scott McInnis.

In that story, the moderate McInnis alluded to why he didn’t run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Republican Wayne Allard, adding that he would have beaten Democrat Mark Udall, who wound up fairly handily defeating Republican Bob Schaffer. In the AP story, McInnis advocates for more centrist GOP candidates and moderating the party’s agenda.
