Udall, Bennet summoned with other conservative Dems to the White House

ABC is reporting that President Obama has asked to meet with select Democratic senators, including Colorado Sens Mark Udall and Michael Bennet, as well as former Connecticut Democrat now Independent Joe Lieberman. Speculation is that the president is looking to shore up support for the so-called public option designed to compete with private insurers to drive down health-care costs.

The complete list of senators after the jump.

Sens. Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Mark Warner of Virginia, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Evan Bayh of Indiana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Tom Carper of Delaware, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, Mark Begich of Alaska, Mark Udall and Michael Bennet of Colorado, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Bill Nelson of Florida, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, and Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.

The meeting is scheduled for 4:15 pm EST.

Udall and Bennet joined the so-called blue dog group of centrist Dems early this year, the same group invited to speak with the President today. The group promised to work to find new solutions in Washington. Udall and Bennet have scheduled a press conference for after the White House meeting. Stay tuned.
