She was a TV person before she was a politician. As a politician, she came to hate what she called the “lamestream media.” Then she “quit” politics. Now Sarah Palin has joined Fox News, one of the most popular media outlets in history, though to her not a mainstream outlet. Details of the contract and her commitment to the network have not yet become public. One detail that has, however, is that it’s a multi-year contract that “would appear to give her room for other pursuits,” according to the New York Times Media Decoder blog. So, from now till 2012, Palin will be appearing on Fox. There’s a switch: Here we have a TV station paying the candidate to air her commercials, instead of the other way round!

The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”
