Boulder ranked third-most bike friendly city in the U.S.

Bicycling magazine ranks Boulder No. 3 in a Top 50 list of the most bike-friendly cities in the country. The editors only considered cities with populations greater than 100,000. Denver came in just out of the Top 10 at No. 12 and Colorado Springs made the Top 20 at No.18.

The introduction explains the criteria the editors used to compile their list:

segregated bike lanes, municipal bike racks and bike boulevards, to name a few. If you have those things in your town, cyclists probably have the ear of the local government—another key factor. To make our Top 50, a city must also support a vibrant and diverse bike culture, and it must have smart, savvy bike shops.

Gov. Ritter before the cracked ribs.

Readers so inclined will note the heavy politically left slant to the nation’s bike-friendly places.
