Former Colorado Democratic Party Chairman Phil Perington announced this week that he has left the Democratic Party and is now an independent.
He told The Colorado Statesman that he did not want to be the “last lemming off the cliff.”
Perington ran for Denver mayor in 2003. The Statesman quotes him as saying the one Democrat he still admires is Congressman Ed Perlmutter (7th CD) “who believes in what he’s doing… All elected officials could take a lesson from what he’s doing.”
