Udall call for non-partisan State of the Union seating draws ‘birther’ attack

Colorado Senator Mark Udall’s proposal that Democratic and Republican members of the House and Senate abandon the segregated State of the Union seating of years past and sit together Tuesday night has caught on. Udall plans to sit with GOP members of the Colorado delegation. South Carolina GOP Rep. Joe Wilson, who heckled the president last year, is sitting with Democratic colleagues from the House Armed Services Committee. Former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned down a seating invitation from GOP majority leader Eric Cantor, but she plans to sit with GOP Maryland Rep. Roscoe Bartlett.

“Instead of sitting in our usual partisan divide, let us agree to have Democrats and Republicans sitting side by side,” Udall wrote to lawmakers last week. “The choreographed standing and clapping of one side of the room — while the other side sits — is unbecoming of a serious institution.”

Infamous “birther” attorney Orly Taitz thinks it’s Udall’s proposal that’s unbecoming. In a grammatically challenged “open letter” to Colorado’s senior senator, she blasts the proposal as an un-American way to silence opposition. The proposal reminds her of the time she spent living in the Soviet Union, where all manner of evils were imposed on citizens in the name of national unity.

“Frankly sir, you remind me of a member of Soviet politburo, who is demanding unity behind our dear Tovarish Obama.”

Taitz eventually reveals her larger beef with Udall. She says he refused to come to the aid of Colorado’s own Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, the Army doctor now serving time at the Leavenworth brig for refusing to deploy to Afghanistan because his requests to see President Obama’s “original long form birth certificate” were never satisfied.

Taitz goes at Udall with an abandon that mocks the calls for a less demonizing political rhetoric that came after the shootings in Arizona this month, in which a federal judge was killed and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was critically wounded.

“An American hero Lt. Col Lakin, your former supporter from Greely Colorado is sitting in prison because of simply asking for Obama’s papers,” Taitz writes. “He is in prison because of you and others in the Senate, in the Democratic party at large, who gathered under the banner of the usurper and a fraud, sheepishly asking for silence and unity. Lakin’s family wrote to you, pleaded with you to show unity with a war hero, who defended you and your family and your way of life. You showed no respect for the Constitution, no unity with them, you breached your oath of office, you committed de-facto treason against the Constitution and you betrayed your constituent, you showed no unity, no respect, no decency.”

In November 2009, U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land rejected a complaint questioning the president’s birth filed by Taitz on behalf of Army Captain Connie Rhodes and warned Taitz that her case was no more than frivolous, half-baked, political posturing. Taitz, he wrote, used the complaint as “a platform for spouting political rhetoric, such as her claims that the president is ‘an illegal usurper, an unlawful pretender, [and] an unqualified impostor.’” He added in a footnote that Pres. Obama weathered a “grueling” primary campaign and a harsh general election against well-funded Republican opponent John McCain.

“It would appear that ample opportunity existed for discovery of evidence that would support any contention that the president was not eligible for the office he sought,” he wrote.

Land told Taitz she would face sanctions if she ever again filed a similarly frivolous lawsuit in his court.

In advance of the State of the Union speech, NBC’s David Gregory asked new Republican Majority Leader Cantor on Meet the Press to denounce the birther conspiracy theory. Cantor squirmed, trying to distance himself from the conspiracy theorists without alienating them, justifying Gregory’s line of questioning and spurring him on.

“Let’s talk about discourse and how you can all get along a little better and do it a little more civilly. I wonder, this is a leadership moment here,” Gregory says. “There are elements of this country who question the president’s citizenship, who think that his birth certificate is inauthentic. Will you call that what it is, which is crazy talk?”

Cantor laughs uncomfortably.

“A lot of that is generated by the media and others in the country and most Americans have moved beyond that….”

“Is someone bringing this up just engaging in crazy talk?” asks Gregory.

“I don’t think it’s nice to call anyone crazy,” said Cantor.

The Taitz open letter to Udall stands as the most recent exhibit for Americans on all sides of the issue to examine:

Dear Senator Mark Udall of Colorado. It has been trumpeted far and wide, that you are seeking national unity. That is wonderful, but I do have a few questions on that matter:

1. How sincere are you about real unity?
2. How about unity and respect towards American people and members of the U.S. military?

Sir, I lived in the regime of Socialist dictatorship of the Soviet Union, when opposition was told to shut up in the interest of national unity. Frankly sir, you remind me of a member of Soviet politburo, who is demanding unity behind our dear Tovarish Obama. Why so?

You saw Democrat party totally creamed and annihilated during the last election.

You know, that if Obama’s stock falls, so will the stock of the party as a whole and so will your chances for re-election. You know, that by silencing opposition to Obama regime, you can improve the marketability of the Democrat party and your chances for reelection.

The grand Puba of the Obama regime,” Rambo”, Rahm Emanuel said once “No crisis should go to waste”.

I believe that by this call to unity are exploiting the tragedy in A.,You, as well as the leftist controlled main stream media, are implying that the madman, who killed 6 people, was somehow influenced by Rush Limbaugh or Sarah Palin. You are being intellectually dishonest. All of Laughner’s friends stated time and again that he was a leftist, just like you and Obama. “Communist manifesto” by Karl Marx was one of his favorite books, he is the product of Ayers community schools. So, if you want real national unity, why don’t you start with intellectual honesty and transparency.

2. I hear a lot of talk about unity with colleges on the other side of the isle, but no calls regarding unity with American people and no calls for respect towards American people and members of U.S. military.

American citizens have written to you repeatedly, requesting to approach Obama and demand his papers, in light of the fact that Obama is sitting in the White House with CT social security number 042-68-4425 issued to another individual in CT in 1977 and assumed by Obama around 1980-1981; in light of the fact that Obama does not have a valid long form birth certificate and has citizenship of and allegiance to 3 other nations. You arrogantly threw all the letters from US citizens into the garbage. You never spoke a word of truth. An American hero Lt. Col Lakin, your former supporter from Greely Colorado is sitting in prison because of simply asking for Obama’s papers. He is in prison because of you and others in the Senate, in the Democratic party at large, who gathered under the banner of the usurper and a fraud, sheepishly asking for silence and unity. Lakin’s family wrote to you, pleaded with you to show unity with a war hero, who defended you and your family and your way of life. You showed no respect for the Constitution, no unity with them, you breached your oath of office, you committed de-facto treason against the Constitution and you betrayed your constituent, you showed no unity, no respect, no decency.

I would like to point out to you, that I do not remember calls for unity when Acorn thugs and Obama truth squads harassed and terrorized decent Americans. You were silent, as well as our bought and paid for main stream media, our corrupt officials in the Department of Justice and judiciary. Everyone was silent.

So here is my challenge to you senator Mark Udall: If you really want unity, start with honesty. Unite with your colleagues in confronting Obama and demanding from him to provide his Social Security application, explaining how did he get Connecticut Social security number, while residing in HI, demand from him his long form birth certificate, as well as his British, Kenyan and Indonesian passports.

You start with showing some honesty and integrity and respect for the law and the U.S. Constitution, you bring your Democrat and Republican colleges under this banner, and we will follow and unite behind you, otherwise we will unite in making sure you are thrown out of office together with Obama. And rest assured sir, we will be really united, shoulder to shoulder, in achieving this goal.

Respectfully,
Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ
