Fladen File – Constitution Written By God, Not Man?

1) During an appearance on John Hagee Ministries’ Global Evangelism Television (GETV) network on Wednesday, host Matt Hagee asked former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) where the country had gone wrong.

“I think we got off the track when we allowed our government to become a secular government,” DeLay explained. “When we stopped realizing that God created this nation, that he wrote the Constitution, that it’s based on biblical principles.”

Silly me, when Moses came down from Mt. Sinai I had always thought he carried the 10 commandments. I had no idea he carried a document signed by men who would live three thousand years later in a land thousands of miles away. Glad to find out now how mistaken I was.

2) Continuing on with science – or rather its limits – Krauthammer has a good piece on the myth of settled science in the WaPo.  It largely encapsulates my view on climate change. I don’t know if humans are a large cause of it or not, or even if it is currently going on at all. What I see though from climate-change fanatics is a religious ferocity aimed at burning disbelievers more in line with a medieval witch hunt than in line with a solid scientific movement.

3) On a non-political note, take a look at this excellent piece about epigenetics.  Basic idea is that your grandparents’ life experiences can change how your genetic code gets expressed.  Fascinating stuff.

4) For a non-science-ish read, given everything going on in the Ukraine, this is a good piece about the region’s recent history.

He's the libertarian son of Modern Orthodox Jews, the Brother of Haredi Orthodox Rabbis who don't speak with him, the Husband to a beautiful Mexican wife with whom he has two hybrid daughters. His wife and daughters live with him in a cramped apartment where they frequently watch Disney musicals and other assorted cartoons.
